Summer Day in Action for Children

On the occasion of the Summer Day, Child Led Group of Elbasan (central Albania) delivered their key messages, to public and authorities, for increasing investments on children education. They called to authorities to make them part of the discussions during the municipality budget planning for the year 2015-2016 and to ensure improvements of the physical infrastructure and educational materials for some of the most in need primary schools in Elbasan town. More specifically, they demanded for improving the heating and hydro isolation system, toilets, sport playgrounds, safety and emergency system, as well as supplies for labs of chemistry, biology and physics.

Save the Children support to four Child-Led Groups (CLGs) in Peshkopia, Durres, Elbasan and Burrel involved also capacity development of children on budget cycle, budget structure and budget analyses. This aiming to enable them to participate in the budgeting process and expenditure monitoring at central and local level as well as to advocate for more investment in children and the importance of child participatory budgeting.

Save the Children support four Child-Led Groups (CLGs) is empowering children and contributing to increase ownership over child rights monitoring in their regions. Children are active in the implementation of child rights initiatives that/and influence the agenda of local authorities and they are effectively participating and positively influencing  development of policies and activities on issues affecting children. Promoting children's participation in budgeting process can contribute to breaking the cycle of decision making owned only by adults and children can experience the impact their opinions have on achieving change.
