Community Based Services Centres for children with disabilities handed over to the municipalities
Two outstanding models of Community Based Centers for Children with Disabilities, are effectively handed over, to the municipalities of Durrës and Vlora. After three years of operation and support by Save the Children in partnership with the local NGO, the municipalities are now committed to continue the centers operation with full efficiency and according to the standards provided by law.
These two service centers of excellence, the only ones of their kind in the two regions, have reached directly 250 children with disabilities and 400 parents. They offer free daily individual therapy and treatment, educational, information and support services; training for families of children with disabilities to work with the child and advocate for the inclusion of their children in education and community and capacity building for public institutions at local level to support the inclusion of Children with Disabilities.
Main participants, in the handed over ceremonies were deputy Minister of Health and Social Protection, Deputy Mayors, Directors of Municipal Social Protection Departments, Directors of Education Regional Authorities, parents and children with disabilities.
