Youth Business Fair event

Friday 26 June 2015

Through a lovely and bustling atmosphere of a marketplace for the community, Youth center in Cerrik opened the first ever entrepreneurship fair. Hot food and refreshments, ice cream, various handmade works such as bracelets, lace and hair clips, straw baskets, embroidery, knitted socks, handbags as well free face painting for children were offered in this community business market fair.

The Business Fair day event is a culmination of ideas and hard work of youth who created the products from the recycled materials, built their business marketing plan and then opened it for their community. The aim of this business fair was to mobilize and raise awareness of youth and community members such as parents, teachers and business people on the benefit of engaging in their community social life and income generation activities. Through such youth led opportunities and the capacity building activities, youth were able to put into practice their knowledge gained about business and entrepreneurship and raised the visibility of their action in the entire community. The Business fair event was a great example of how civic engagement and business skills can bring more opportunities to youth and the wider community. The money raised during this business fair event will be used to buy school materials for Roma children and children with disabilities of the community. This event was organized in the framework of the "Empowerment of youth through Education" project implemented by Save the Children in partnership with the local NGO 'In the family for the family'.
