Supporting the rights of Children with Disabilities in Education

Today 25CRC, parents of children with disabilities, from 7 regions of Albania, gathered to discuss on the importance of parental involvement and engagement in accelerating the process of inclusion for their children in education. This meeting aimed at strengthening the parent groups to lobby and advocate for the protection of the rights of children with disabilities to access and receive quality education.

The meeting concluded with a “Parents’ Statement” directed to the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Social Welfare and Youth and Regional Education Authorities on issues related to supporting teachers, parents capacity building, psycho-social services in schools, capacity building of teachers and the school board on Inclusive Education and access to health services for children with disabilities. While parents were discussing on problems and challenges their children face in education, fun games and animations were organized for children accompanying their parents. This meeting is part of the Save the Children project in support of children with special needs in education, implemented in partnership with MEDPAK and Ministry of Education and funded by Italian MFA.
