#Draw Disability with children

Wednesday 22 April 2015

Save the Children is undergoing an awareness campaign "Draw Disability" with children from 14 primary schools in seven regions of Albania.
#DrawDisability is a global campaign organized in partnership with the Global Observatory for Inclusion in Education (globe) and the Youth Group of the United Nations Initiative Advocates First Global Education (GEFI-YAG). The purpose of this campaign is to encourage children to # draw disability. Children's drawings showed how they perceive and experience the disability as well as related issues, such as being different, accessibility, inclusion and discrimination. The views of children and young people highlighted challenges, achievements and successes that people with disability have experienced and accomplished in their communities.

To facilitate the organization of this process, Save the Children has adopted in the Albanian language the guide for teachers. The guide serves also as a tool for teachers to better understand the Inclusive Education concepts and approaches to be applied in class with children. The campaign continues and community activities with children, teachers and and their parents aiming the need to have access to quality inclusive education for all children will be addressed.
