Child Rights week-Civil Society in action

Hundreds of children, teachers, child protection professionals, parents and community members of urban and rural areas in Durres, Tropoja, Fier, Kukes, Shkodra, Tirana and Gjirokastra, appealed to local authorities for more engagement and attention to implementation of children's rights. During the Child Rights week children’s voice, on issues that concern them and young people was conveyed through creative and promotional activities such as the presentation of the report on the situation of children's rights in the Municipality of Tropoja, discussion forums, drama, children's exhibitions, contests and fairs.
These activities are part of the support to 28 civil society organizations sub-grantees of the Action "Civil Society in action for the Protection of Child Rights in Albania" funded by the European Union and implemented by Save the Children and Terre des hommes in Albania. This support aims at strengthening the implementation of children's rights in Albania and improving the child protection system through the drafting of local child protection action plans, plans for the protection of children in street situation, drafting of guidelines and protocols of social services for children, empowerment of children to support and promote their rights, provision of direct services to children in need, monitoring of children's rights at local level, reduction of school drop-out and the number of children in street situation and preventive projects against child trafficking, abuse and exploitation.
